It should’ve been louder, when you left,
A horrid sound for a horrid death,
Trains colliding, a building collapsing,
The universe imploding—or a gunshot
At close range. It hurt enough.
Instead, the door severed your life from mine,
Extinguished dreams, hopes…maybe love,
With a simple, quiet click.
